Hong Kong - What makes a great city ?
Jolly Thinkers - For Board Game Freaks !
1 July 2015

What do you do on a rainy Sunday or an extremely hot & humid holiday ? Hong Kong does not have enough indoor activities to do, which does not burn a hole in your pocket. Well you can either stay at home or head to one of the nicest Board Room cafes in town. Jolly Thinkers in Wan Chai is well accessible from the MTR and has enough place for even a large group. The colorful ambiance helps your inner child take precedence over things. You can play your well known games or if you are willing to learn new games, then the servers in the cafe will be more than happy to explain you the game. The charges are also reasonable with around 60$ per person for 2 hrs with a 30$ drink included in the price. It has a nice variety of smoothies, coffee, teas with only french fries as a vegetarian option. But eventually its the games which make the place worth visiting again and again. Honestly I do not want to popularize the place so much that it becomes over crowded but cannot help rave about this wonderful place. If you want you can purchase games from their cafe, but a word of advice : same games available in Sham Shui po at half prices !! My favorite games to play over here are 1. Dixit 2. FBI 3. Merci 4. Who is the Boss 5. Da Vinci 6. Forbidden Island A group size of 4 or maximum 5 is ideal for intelligent games , but a group bigger than that needs a lot of management & controlling , and also need to settle playing just for the fun games. Mystery Rooms - Newest live gaming fad
11 August 2013

If you live in Hong Kong , you must have come across some names like Mystery rooms or Escape rooms. These are nothing but a newest gaming trend in HK. Escape rooms are real live games which you play in a small enclosed theme room. As the name suggests you need to escape the room in a stipulated time frame to prove a winner. In a lives of gadgets & electronic gaming, this is really a breath of fresh air, because here you are using your observation & logical skills to work out of a situation. You need to observe things around you, deduce logical correlations, to work your way out. It can be as simple as finding a key in the dark to reading words in a mirror to filling a bottle with water to float up a key or to having Geographical knowledge of World map to during 3 missing variables linear equations. You need to know Chinese to play some rooms but most of the rooms can be played by knowing only English. But better check before you go. Its a great brain exercise and its always fun to play back to back rooms since your mind is already worked up. Hong Kong - What Makes a Great City ?
10 August 2013

Personally I would not recommend Hong Kong as a tourist destination. Its just like another metropolitan city and you wont be remembering throughout your life that you saw something extra ordinary. But after visiting so many cities around the world, you just cannot help marvel the fact about how seamlessly everything works in Hong Kong. Its a great city with even greater infra structure. Despite having such a high density of population in a cramped place, I have great regards for Hong Kong Government for the way they have handled the administration. Working here for last 5 years, you realize over a period of time, that how effortless your stay has been. Everything is well thought of, well planned of. This might be a small city, but overall I feel it has the best public transport network that you can travel distances with good frequency throughout HK. Hong Kong still has a lot to see like theme parks, gardens, The Peak, The Buddha , Ngong Ping, etc , I would be posting about everything separately in different posts over a period of time. I already have a separate webpage for the dining scene in Hong Kong Keep checking out this blog for more information about things to do & off the beaten things to do in HK !
